Swim Groups & Private Lessons
Learn to Swim
-
Group Description:
Our Beginner classes are for individuals with little to no swim experience, including those who are fearful of or have had a traumatic experience in the water.
We specialize in working with anxious swimmers, and in teaching swimmers who have not been successful learning to swim elsewhere.
Our experience with swimmers just like you shows that with consistency, commitment and the proper instruction, you can learn to swim and enjoy the water!
This class has a mixed-gender and a women-only option.
Class Objectives:
You will be taught basic swim skills, such as front and back float, standing from a floating position, modified breaststroke, elementary backstroke, kicking, freestyle arms, and freestyle breathing.
The Beginner 2 class will also introduce backstroke, breaststroke and treading water.
Class Frequency:
The Beginner 1 & 2 classes meet one time per week.
Pool Type:
This class is taught in a shallow, warm-water pool.
-
Group Description:
The Advanced Beginner class is for swimmers who have the basic swim skills taught in the Beginner 1 & 2 classes.
This class has a mixed-gender and a women-only option.
Class Objectives:
In this class, you will continue to improve your freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke technique, while also adding an endurance component and an introduction to deep-water swimming.
Swimming is a very technical sport, and in this class we go from the large, general movements of a beginner to the specific technique needed to become a safer, confident and more efficient swimmer.
Class Frequency:
The Advanced Beginner classes meet one time per week. Swimmers who are able to safely swim in the deep water are eligible to attend Open Lap Swim, which is offered one time per week.
Pool Type:
The Mixed-Gender class switches between two pools: a shallow, warm-water pool and a deep-water, competitive pool.
The Women-Only class uses a deep-water, competition pool.
Technique & Fitness
-
Group Description:
The Intermediate class is for swimmers who have relatively strong technique and are comfortable swimming in deep water unassisted.
This group is geared for fitness and triathlete/competitive swim training.
Class Objectives:
The Intermediate class will continue to refine your technique with all four strokes, and build endurance. You will get a workout complete with drills, distance swims and an introduction to interval training. Each lesson ranges from 1200-2000 yards.
Class Frequency:
The Intermediate class meets two times per week. Additionally, swimmers in this class are eligible to attend Open Lap Swim, which is offered one time per week.
Pool Type:
This class is taught in a deep-water, competition pool.
Triathlete & Competitive Training
-
Group Description:
TTMT is our most advanced group and is for swimmers who have solid technique looking for a challenging workout. Many, but not all of the swimmers in this group are triathletes, masters or competitive swimmers.
Our swimmers find this class provides the opportunity to slow down and focus on technique while building a foundation for swim training.
Class Objectives:
While freestyle technique is a main focus, you’ll also have the opportunity to practice all four strokes. This class incorporates longer distances, interval training and speed/pacing work, averaging 2000-3000 yards.
For swimmers preparing for a triathlon or open-water event, you’ll learn skills specific to these types of competitions, such as sighting, swimming in a crowd and managing the anxiety that can pop up in these situations.
Additionally, customized coaching for those interested in adult competition, such as masters meets, is also offered.
Class Frequency:
The TTMT class meets four times per week. Swimmers can attend as many practices as they like.
Additionally, swimmers in this class are eligible to attend Open Lap Swim, which is offered one time per week.
Pool Type:
This class is taught in a deep-water, competition pool.
Women Only
-
Group Description:
Our women-only classes include Beginner 1 & 2 and Advanced Beginner levels.

Advanced Beginner: In this class, you will continue to improve your freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke technique, while also adding an endurance component and an introduction to deep-water swimming.

Private & Semi-Private Lessons
-
Group Description:
Private/semi-private lessons offer the swimmer(s) the perfect environment to receive personalized coaching to work on the skills of their choosing.
Private lessons are a great option for swimmers with busy schedules, as well as for those who are fearful of the water, and for swimmers who may need uninterrupted hands-on instruction or a quiet environment to progress at their own pace.
Accelerate your learning by attending both private and group lessons.
Whenever possible, Coaches Karin and Michelle alternate coaching these lessons because Two Tails are always better than one!
We're also happy to schedule a larger class if you have a group of 3-15 family members/friends who would like to be in a closed session together.
Class Objectives:
The beauty of private and semi-private lessons is that the class is designed around your individual needs, at a time and location that is convenient for you.
Class Frequency:
Most swimmers attend one to two lessons per week. Swimmers who are able to safely swim in the deep water will also be eligible to attend Open Lap Swim, which is offered one time per week.
Pool Type:
You will have your choice of three shallow, warm-water pools and a deep-water, competition pool.

A Friends & Family class is the perfect way to learn to swim or improve your swimming, while having fun spending dedicated time with those you love!

Whenever possible, Coaches Karin and Michelle alternate coaching these lessons because Two Tails are always better than one!

Choose a time and location that is convenient for your group. And don’t worry if someone has to miss a class - you’re eligible to attend any of our other applicable classes as a make-up.
Class Frequency:
Friends & Family classes meet one to two times per week.
Swimmers who are able to safely swim in the deep water will also be eligible to attend Open Lap Swim, which is offered one time per week.
